The stylist who performed my big chop is located in Columbia, MD. She has waist length locs and is very knowledeable. What I liked about her was that she took the time too give me a free consultation, which is her policy. Feel free to call or email her with questions or an appointment.

I must second this...Tanene has been doing my hair for over a year and she is the real deal. I've been natural for 3 years + and I don't let just anybody in my head.

She cares about the overall health of her clients' hair, without sacrificing style.

Go ahead and give her a call.

Tanene offers free consultations as her pricing is done on a case-by-case basis. I wouldn't feel comfortable telling you one thing and then having it be something else. I can say that she is very reasonable.

Micro Cornrows...I kind of made that up, for lack of a better-known term.

What they were were itty bitty cornrows. I wanted braids that would last, but I have so much hair now that it didn't really make sense for me to add synthetic hair. Tanene came up with the alternative to use only my own hair and make them small. It worked.

NappyNur.
I just want to thank you for posting the contact info for Tanene Jackson. I had the pleasure to meet this sista today and have her style my hair. If you are looking for a true natural stylist/loctician, your search is over. I had the chance to see some of her work as well as wear it. She hooked my hair up today. I usually do my own hair but after today, Tanene has a customer for life. She is a wonderful person and a wonderful stylist. Can you say superb? I will try to post a pic soon.

For those of you who want to try out one of the best, here is Tanene's update info:
Her new number is (301) 596-2489. She is still located in Columbia, MD.

You won't be disappointed.

thanks again

Hi NaturalThandi
I have about 2-3 inches of hair, maybe a little more. I haven't really measure it yet. I just did the big cut back in May after growing my relax hair out for about 9 months. I had about an 1-1 1/2 then but its seems to be growing pretty fast. Tanene style my hair with braids in the front going back at an angle in to two strand twists with an afro in the back. I got a lot of compliments. I guess everyone just was getting tired of me just tying a head band or scarf around my head. With the braids and twist up front, it gave my style a new look. I did take a couple pics. I will try to post them soon. I also got to see pictures of other styles this sister has done. She's good and if you are looking for someone to keep you hair looking great, I believe she can handle the job.

I went to Tanene yesterday and she did an EXCELLENT job on my hair.

I have roughly 12 inches of hair and she did cornrows back into two strand twist (teeny tiny twists). It was worth the money. The only product she used was Shea Butter and Water (i was amazed at the results)

I will definately be going back to her...

Thandi,

I love the Shea Butter, but have you tried Olive Oil? Totally different look. Ask Tanene about that next time.

I just scheduled my consultation. I'm excited, she seems like a wonderful upbeat person. I am ready to chop this mess off, maybe I will do it tonight.

If this is the same woman who I am thinking about..who does hair out of her basement..she was very unprofessional and rude to my mother and I. She assumed since I am a teen mom that she can talk to me any kind of way. not knowing the circumstances of how i conceived my child. Her and her friend just had a ball talking about it in front of me and my mom. She later apologized but still..I would not recommend her.
